Fall is officially upon us. It’s the time for falling leaves and pumpkin spice lattés. The month of October 2017 brings the Halloween spirit with it, but not to worry! Even if Halloween isn’t your thing or you aren’t quite ready to don those woolly sweaters, there are plenty of awesome things to do in and around Vancouver during the month of October 2017.
Port Moody Oktoberfest
Okay, so most of this event takes place at the end of September, but since it’s called Oktoberfest, we’ll let it slide. On the 1st of October, enjoy the final day of Port Moody Oktoberfest with beer, food, events, and of course, more beer! Check out the website and get your tickets here.

Fright Nights at the PNE

Fort Langley Cranberry Festival
For those of us who are less spookily inclined and prefer more wholesome events, on October 7th the Fort Langley National Historic Site is offering free admission to the Cranberry Festival. There will be lots of fun games for the whole family as well as a market in the village. Check it out!
Bear Creek Park Pumpkin Express
From October 7th until October 31st, take your little ones on a train-ride at Bear Creek Park. Each child will receive a treat and a small pumpkin to remember the day by! For opening times and more information on pricing, check out the website.
Granville Island Turkey Trot
On Thanksgiving day, October 9th, join in the fun and go for a run! Starting and ending on Granville Island, the Turkey Trot is a fun 10km run for people of all ages. Feel free to run, walk, or stroll to the finish line! All finishers get a medal and free refreshments. There is also a kids’ run (1.1 km) on October 8th. Apple Festival 2017
On October 14th and 15th, enjoy an event dedicated to one of our favourite fruits! This event, put on by the UBC Botanical Gardens, will feature many fun activities including a scarecrow contest, demonstrations of grafting and cider-pressing, a children’s area, as well as a market with tons of crafts and of course, apples and trees! West Coast Women’s Show

Glow in the Garden
From October 24th to October 31st, enjoy a magical tour through the VanDusen Botanical Garden, with beautifully carved and lit up pumpkins. This year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland. Check out opening times and pricing.

If you are an HGTV addict, then this is the event for you! Running from October 26th to October 29th, the Vancouver Fall Home Show is the place to be for anything home and garden related.
