Remembrance Day 2017  is a time to remember those who lost their lives for our freedom. We have compiled a list of local ceremonies taking place this weekend in and around Vancouver.

Each of these events will be taking place on November 11, 2017.

Vancouver

The Vancouver Remembrance Day 2017 ceremony and parade at the Victory Square Cenotaph will begin at 10:00 am on November 11. The ceremony will begin with a performance by the Vancouver Bach Youth Choir and Sarabande. There will lalso be a performance by Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services and the Regimental Pipes and Drums of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. At 11:00 am, everyone will pause for 2 minutes of silence. After, there will be a 21-gun salute and a fly-past by the RCAF. The parade will begin after the ceremony concludes.

Richmond

The parade in Richmond will start at 10:20 am, with the official ceremonies starting at the Richmond City Hall Cenotaph starting at 10:40 am. There will be a pause for two minutes of silence at 11:00 am, followed by the wreath-laying.

Burnaby

The North Burnaby ceremony will take place at the Borth Burnaby Cenotaph in Confederation Park. The parade will begin at 10:30 am in the Safeway parking lot at 4440 Hastings Street, heading north up Alpha Ave. The ceremony begins at 11:00 at the Cenotaph.

New Westminster

There will be an outdoor service in front of New Westminster City Hall, 511 Royal Avenue. The services will start at 10:30 am. There will also be a parade, which will assemble at Queens Ave. and 6th Street at 10:25 am.

Port Moody

The event will begin with a non-denominational service at the Kyle Centre at 10:00 am, after which the parade will form and proceed to the Arts Centre Monument at 10:30. There will be a 2-minute silence at 11:00 am, followed by a laying of the wreaths and a 21-Gun cannon salute. From 12:30 pm onwards there will be a buffet and refreshments, as well as several performances at the Kyle Centre.

Coquitlam

The Remembrance Day 2017 procession in Coquitlam starts at 9:45 am by Como Lake Middle School at 1121 King Albert Avenue. It will then proceed down Winslow Avenue to the Cenotaph on Veteran’s Way at the east end of Blue Mountain Park starting at around 10:40 am. The parade is then followed by ceremonies at the Cenotaph.

Maple Ridge

The Remembrance Day 2017 parade in Maple Ridge will start at 10:30 am. The ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph in Memorial Peace Park, starting at 11:00 am. The flags will be lowered at 11:30 am.

Langley

There will be a Remembrance Day 2017 ceremony in Langley at the Douglas Park Cenotaph, 20550 Douglas Crescent, starting at 10:30 am.

Surrey

The Remembrance Day 2017 ceremony in Surrey starts at 10:45 am, with a moment of silence occurring at 11:00 am. The event will take place at the Surrey Centre Cemetery, 16671 Old McLellan Road. There will be hot dogs and refreshments available.
